What is a scanner?

A scanner is an input device. The computer takes data or information into digital. Therefore, the image, document, text, etc. is converted into a Scanner digital format and saved in the computer. It is easy to upload data with the help of a scanner.

For example, to e-mail the mark sheet, you know that the computer only understands the digital format. Therefore the mark sheet should be in digital format. A scanner is required to convert hard copies to digital.

The printer is there to print the "soft copy" present in the computer to the "hard copy". In contrast, there is a scanner to save "hard copy" to "soft copy" on the computer.

The scanner saves the data printed or written on paper as an image on a computer. It can scan any type of printed page or image. Black and white or whether the image is color.

A USB cable is required to connect the scanner to the computer. A scanner can also connect wirelessly via BlueTooth. Power cables are used to deliver power to the scanner.

The scanner was invented by Ray Kurzweil in 1957. Many companies make scanners, among which hp, Epson is the main one.

How Scanner Works In order for the scanner to function, the computer must have the scanner's driver software. Keep the hard copy in the scanner. The scanner scans hard copies. The scanned data is saved on the computer. Editing a scanned image is also easy.

Scanner Types

1. Drum Scanner 2. Flatbed Scanner 3. Hand Scanner 4. OCR 5. OMR 6. MICR 7. BCR

1. Flatbed Scanner - This type of scanner is most commonly used. In this, the paper or image automatically moves forward. It consists of a glass on which paper is placed and scanned. This scanner is used most in computers.

2. Drum Scanner - This was the world's first scanner. Photo Multiplier Tube is used in this type of scanner. Drum Scanner scans the image with good quality. Companies that print books or magazines use this type of Scanner.

3. Hand Scanner - This scanner is like a flatbed. Hand scanners manually carry the scanner on paper.

4. OCR - The full form of OCR is "Optical Character Recognition". OCR can easily read the data printed on paper. OCR is used to clear passports.
